..of school. Five days of seeing all the people I enjoy seeing everyday. Five days of enjoying the company of some of my favorite teachers. 5 Days to redeem myself of what ever I must make up before the end of the year. 5 Days left being a freshman. 5 days of my youth being taken away. 5 Days till what?
Beginning of summer, end of the school year. I don't know whether or not I should be happy or sad. But what I can say is that freshman year was just one heck of a year. In a sense, good--but in another way, no way near as amazing as eighth grade was. Eighth grade was amazing, just generally speaking. Freshman year was just so much. So much homework, so much drama, so many things to care about to the point that I had to give up caring. In my point of view, the big conflict here was entering a new school environment with people from different places, different history, and we have not yet to adapt to that even though the school is over. I mean, this wasn't this way for 6th grade. Well--kinda. In 6th grade I felt like I knew nobody. But in High School, you know a lot of people from all the three years of building friendships in Middle School. I think what completely corrupted my freshman year was going into a giant high school of people, thoughts, and ideas, expecting the best in everyone. Completely isolating my mind from thinking that there might just be ONE person to ruin this whole entire year, one person who would finally be a bad friend (which I've never had declared before), just ONE person to...you know, make all my views different about life. Making me realize that the world isn't all that pretty.
In summary, I guess what I'm trying to say is...High School is a great place. Like most people say, WAY better than middle school (obviously because the rules aren't as strict anymore). But in High School you're going into a school where you have to change. Change into a more responsible person, putting grades and your future ahead of friendships. Making you loose friendships. Realizing that friends come and go. And that's not fun at all. Eighth grade was great knowing that you had so much freedom to still be a kid. I'm not saying that High School is depriving students from their childhood...But every step you do, everything you decide to act upon, reflects on your future as of highschool. I may be exaggerating but, it's true.
But to be honest, a plus is that it's now summer. The summer to be a kid again, and living it up like I did back in the day, where responsibility wasn't concept to worry about. I'm just so glad that I lived up to my eighth grade year, last year. But that only makes me wish to go back to those days.
